HONOR ROLL RECIPIENT - 2018
Advanced from the AMC12 A to the American Math Invitational Exam (AIME II)
Congratulations to HPHS junior and math team member Benny Cohen, for qualifying to take the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME). Benny was one of approximately 33,000 11-12th grade math students who sat for the American Mathematics Competition (AMC12). His score qualified him to compete in the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME), one of the most prestigious high school level math tests in the US, the advancement of which leads to the test to determine the US Math Olympiad team. Benny also received the Rensselaer Scholarship at Honors Night last week. He is well respected and lauded by the Math Department at HPHS.
RENSSELAER MEDAL IN MATHEMATICS AND SCIENCE

PROJECT LEAD THE WAY (PLTW) 2016-2018
Each PLTW Engineering course engages students in interdisciplinary activities like working with a client to design a home, programming electronic devices or robotic arms, or exploring algae as a biofuel source. These activities not only build knowledge and skills in engineering but also empower students to develop essential skills such as problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and perseverance. (PLTW.org)
DIGITAL ELECTRONICS
Students explore the foundations of computing by engaging in circuit design processes to create combinational logic and sequential logic (memory) as electrical engineers do in the industry. (PLTW.org)
PRINCIPLES OF ENGINEERING (POE)
Students explore various engineering topics, including mechanisms, the strength of structure and materials, and automation. Then they apply what they know to tackle challenges like designing a self-powered car. (PLTW.org)
INTRODUCTION TO ENGINEERING DESIGN (IED)
Students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects like designing a new toy or improving an existing product. (PLTW.org)
